Ryen is a self taught oil painter specializing predominantly in portraiture. She draws inspiration from music, literature and the cultural differences between her birth place in Louisiana and her current home in the North East of England. Since graduating in 2005 from Northwest School of the Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina, her focus has been on interpreting current events and their results/ consequences in both Britain and the USA and differentiating between media perceptions of the two countries and their juxtaposition with the reality.
